Just as nobody questions our right to breathe, it should be our fundamental right to choose to live in peace. As we go through life, we should focus our energies on growing, learning, and expanding our horizons. We should not spend our precious time on fulfilling only the very basic needs such as finding food/water and being secure. In times of war, the basic needs are often the only ones we manage to fulfill.

This web site is designed to collect stories of war, or the crimes and traumas that could have been avoided hadn’t the war taken place. The purpose of collecting such stories is to spread awareness about long-term, horrific consequences for entire generations and societies that experience war.

Why Stories?

By sharing your story with the world, you contribute to the promotion of peace. The word “story” does not only mean the “narrative,” but also refers to its former meanings, i.e. “a painting or sculpture representing a historical subject. Hence, any work of pictorial or sculptural art containing figures” as well as “’Story ballets’ with music that had been specially composed to fit a ballet scenario” (OED).

Not only did they fail to show up in Gaza to deliver the speech in person, but they recorded the horrific sounds of gun shots in the background. Was this a sign of their victory over Israel, their way of showing resilience? If so, I think they're fighting their own war, not one in which they truly care for Gaza's residents.
